Bouncing Bax Dominates $225,000 NYSS Final at Yonkers

September 28 - Bouncing Bax (Credit Winner - Bax Machine) has become a NYSS monster, winning her fifth in a row tonight in the $225,000 NYSS Final at Yonkers. Taking the lead around the first turn from Post 4 for driver Jason Bartlett, Bouncing Bax established command that she would never relinquish for a moment, winning by a very eased up four lengths in 1:56.2h. Bouncing Bax has increased her lifetime earnings to $368,463 for owner Harbor Racing Stable (Tx) and trainer Jim Raymer. Details of the race, and a Mike Lizzi photo of her win, can be found by following this link. Link is: (http://www.theharnessedge.com/story.asp?Mode=View&Story=58219)

Four NYSS In A Row For Bouncing Bax

September 21 - Over the last month, Bouncing Bax (Credit Winner - Bax Machine) has become a dominant force in the NYSS, now winning her fourth NYSS race in a row at Batavia tonight. Leaving from post 3 as the odds-on favorite on a "good" track surface, Bouncing Bax bided her time in third place until her second trip down the backstretch, when driver Jim Morrill Jr. pulled her out first over. Bouncing Bax simply trotted away from an overmatched field to win by two lengths in 1:57.2h, tying the Batavia track record. Bouncing Bax now has almost $200,000 in 2013 seasonal earnings, and $255,964 lifetime earnings for owner Harbor Racing Stable. A USTA article with photos about her victory is linked here.

Bax Of Life Second To Maven In World Record Miss Versatility Final

September 19 - Bax Of Life (Windsong's Legacy - Bax Machine) has been overlooked in favor of her more famous competitors throughout this year's Miss Versatility Series. However, she picked up another nice paycheck in the $125,000 Miss Versatility Final at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fair today, finishing second to Maven's fabulous 1:51.4h World Record effort. Leaving from the terrible post 8, Bax of Life got away dead last for driver John Campbell. Campbell was forced to take Bax of Life in a grueling outside trip with cover for most of the race, before she was able to shake free and pass several horses to take a solid second timed in 1:53.1h. This solid payday raised Bax of Life's lifetime earnings to $362,269 for owner/trainer Jerry Duford.

Bouncing Bax Makes It Three NYSS In A Row

September 5 - Bouncing Bax (Credit Winner - Bax Machine) is certainly on a roll in the NYSS, notching her third victory in a row tonight in the $94,325 (div.) NYSS at Yonkers Raceway. Leaving from post 1 as second favorite behind Lola de Vie, Bouncing Bax moved out smartly with driver Jason Bartlett to take the lead into the first turn. From there, Bouncing Bax was able to control the race tempo to her best advantage. Favorite Lola de Vie went off stride trying to move outside on the last turn, and from there Bouncing Bax cruised to a very easy 4 length victory in a lifetime best 1:57.3h. Her lifetime earnings now stand at $234,624 for owner Harbor Racing Stable and trainer Jim Raymer.

Bouncing Bax In Second Straight NYSS Victory at Saratoga

August 29 - Bouncing Bax (Credit Winner - Bax Machine) showed that her NYSS victory at Monticello two weeks ago was a sign of even better things to come at Saratoga in a rich $114,587 (div.) NYSS contest. Driven by veteran Wally Hennessey, Bouncing Bax left well from post 2 to tuck second behind pace setter Barn Babe. After a patient drive, Bouncing Bax came on smartly in the stretch to win by one length in a lifetime best 1:58.1h. Her lifetime earnings now stand at $187,462.

Bouncing Bax Wins Fastest $52,383 Leg of NYSS at Monticello

August 15 – Bouncing Bax (Credit Winner – Bax Machine) surprised the bettors but not trainer Jim Raymer as a 19-1 winner of the $52,383 NYSS at Monticello. Starting from post 3 for driver Howard Parker, Bouncing Bax got away an uninspired fourth by nine lengths at the ¼ pole. She then took the outside route first over to close the gap on Wygant Lady and to hold off a late charge by odds-on favorite Long Island Tea, winning by one length in 1:58.2h. The race was the fastest NYSS leg of the day. Bouncing Bax has now earned $130,169 lifetime for owner Harbor Racing Stable. In his previous start, Jitterbug showed signs of good things to come in finishing third from post 9 with a last quarter 27.4 rush in a $39,900 ONSS-GL at Mohawk. Tonight, Jitterbug once again found himself starting far outside from post 8, and getting away fifth by ten lengths at the ¼ pole. Jitterbug gradually moved forward to third by the top of the stretch, only to move by the leaders to win by one length in 2:00 for driver Michael Saftic and trainer Marcel Barrieau. Jitterbug will qualify for the $144,000 ONSS-GMC at Mohawk in early August. Tonight Bouncing Bax finished a strong second, timed in 1:58.4h one length behind winner Lola de Vie, in the $119,619 NYSS at Yonkers for driver Jason Bartlett and trainer Jim Raymer. Designer Genes Notches Fifth Win of the Year

June 29 – Designer Genes (Cantab Hall – Dandy Hanover) handily won for the fifth time this year in 1:56.4 in a $19,000 Conditioned race at Mohawk tonight. Leaving from post 5, Designer Genes got away sixth for driver Sylvain Filion, before taking the overland route outside for the middle half of the race. Reaching third at the top of the stretch, Designer Genes moved away from the field in a 28 second final quarter to win by three lengths. For the year, Designer Genes is 16 – 5 – 4 – 2 with earnings of $67,842, taking her lifetime mark of 1:55.1 at Mohawk. The five year old mare has been a late bloomer for owner Synerco Ventures, as she had made only four lifetime starts before 2013. Windsong Stable sells Jim Dandy, a yearling bay colt by S J’s Caviar and a half brother to Designer Genes, in the Concord Stud Farm consignment at Harrisburg.

Jacks To Open Wins $35,846 NYSS at Buffalo

June 23 – After finishing second timed in 1:54.4f in the $59,300 Historic Series at Tioga on June 16, Jacks To Open (Conway Hall – Jodis Jayme) proved he was ready for bigger things in winning the $35,846 NYSS tonight at Buffalo. Windsong Stable sells Jovial, a yearling chestnut colt by Deweycheatumnhowe out of Jodis Jayme and a half brother to Jacks To Open, in the Concord Stud Farm consignment at Harrisburg.

Bax of Life Third in $266,041 Armbro Flight

June 15 – Normally we don’t report anything but victories. However, Bax of Life (Windsong’s Legacy – Bax Machine) is more than earning her way for owner/trainer Jerry Duford. After an early training injury at two, Bax of Life started racing at three in the tough Woodbine overnights. At 3, Bax of Life went 25 – 5 – 4 – 7 with a mark of 3, 1:54.4 and earnings of $87,124. At 4, Bax of Life improved even more, going 24 – 8 – 1 – 3 with a mark of 4, 1:53.1 and seasonal earnings of $148,489. This year, Bax of Life has proven that she belongs with the best aged mares, finishing second to Beatgoeson Hanover in a May 20 $29,100 leg of the Miss Versatility at Woodbine; and third to Maven and Intense America in a June 7 $34,300 leg of the Armbro Flight. Tonight Bax of Life had her best performance ever, starting from post 10 and rallying from eighth in the stretch for driver Chris Christoforou in a scorching 27.1 final quarter to finish third in 1:53.2 only three lengths behind Maven and Cedar Dove. Her $31,924 paycheck was the biggest of her career. Windsong Stable sells Fighting Bax, a yearling bay colt by Muscle Massive out of Bax Machine and a half brother to Bax of Life, in the Concord Stud Farm consignment at Harrisburg.

Renewal Notice Subscribes To Victory in the ONSS-RS

June 10 – Sometimes good things happen after a breeder sells the mare. Windsong Stable sold Ontario star Infinites Uprising in foal to Muscle Mass. The resultant offspring, Renewal Notice, won his $14,700 ONSS-RS at Mohawk tonight in 1:56.3 as a three year old, proving once again that breeders sometimes should be more patient with their mares. Driver Billy Davis Jr. took Renewal Notice from post 8 to a parked out lead in a 57.4 half, before leaving the field far behind to win in a lifetime record 1:56.3 by seven lengths for trainer Anette Lorentzon and owner ACL Stuteri AB.

Jacks To Open Raises The Ante In Excelsior Prep

May 26 – 2012 Season’s Champion 2YO Trotting Gelding (mile) Jacks To Open (Conway Hall – Jodis Jayme) led the field with a wire-to-wire victory in tonight’s $8,200 Excelsior Prep at Tioga Downs. Leaving from post 3, Jacks To Open immediately went to the lead, which he held all the way to the wire in a 1:58f victory by 3 lengths for driver Brian Mattison, trainer Paul Kelley, and owner Kelley Racing Stable. Jacks To Open races best when he goes for an early lead, and he followed that pattern tonight. Windsong Stable sells Jovial, a yearling chestnut colt by Deweycheatumnhowe out of Jodis Jayme and a half brother to Jacks To Open, in the Concord Stud Farm consignment at Harrisburg.

Picard Boldly Goes For Third Straight Win at Harrahs Philadelphia

March 17 - Picard (S Js Caviar - Tasha Yar) won his third straight win at Harrahs Philadelphia tonight wire-to-wire by three lengths in 1:56f for trainer Shaun Callahan and driver Corey Callahan in a NW3 event. Picard has shown great improvement in form since entering the Callahan stable in February. He started the streak on February 26 with a very easy five length win at Dover in 1:56.1f in a NW-12LT, and on March 10 followed with another five length win in 1:58.2f at Dover in a NW3.
