Swan For All Wins In His $253,537 Matron Stakes Swan Song

November 15 - Earlier this week, Kentuckiana Farms announced that Swan For All would be standing at its Indiana facility for the 2010 breeding season for a fee of $3000. Swan For All demonstrated that he belongs near the top of the 2009 class of 3 year old trotters with an apparently effortless win in the $253,537 Matron Stakes tonight in 1:55.1f for driver David Miller. Leaving from Post 5, Swan For All tucked third in a 27.4 first quarter before quickly assuming the lead in a slow 57.3 half. Briefly challenged by Hot Shot Blue Chip on the backstretch, Swan For All simply lengthed his stride and assumed complete command in the stretch, where he went on for a very easy 2 length victory. In only 11 lifetime starts, Swan For All finished his short racing career 8 - 2 - 0 with $309,986 in lifetime earnings. An interview with trainer Erv Miller after the race revealed that the owners did not want to chance another injury to the big dark bay colt, and will retire him safely to stallion service for 2010.

Swan For All Dominates In $42,000 Matron Elimination

November 8 - Swan For All (Andover Hall - Swan Lake) led a talented field of three year old colt trotters wire-to-wire to win the $42,000 elimination for the Matron Stakes tonight at Dover. Starting from Post 5, Swan For All took the lead after a tough initial 27 quarter, before settling into fractions of 56.2 and 1:24.4. Turning for home, Swan For All simply stretched his lead comfortably and was never headed in a 1:54.1 mile, a new lifetime mark. Swan For All now is 10 - 7 - 2 - 0 with earnings of $183,218 lifetime.

Windsong Bred Horses In Major Racing Action

August 28 - Although some didn't reach the Winners Circle, several Windsong Stable bred horses brought home nice paychecks for their owners late this week. Today Sir Winston (Revenue S - Queen Victorian) finished a solid third in the $100,000 NJSS Finals at Freehold, timed in 1:58.4 behind the winner Vesuvio As in 1:57.2. Sir Winston raised his lifetime earnings to $60,986. At Saratoga, Up In Class (Conway Hall - Lady Wesgate) finished second only a head behind the winner in a $42,611 NYSS race. Finally finding racing room at the head of the stretch, Swept To Victory angled four wide and found another gear that wasn't available to the rest of the field, blasting past her competitors to get up for the win for driver Orjan Kihlstrom and trainer Roger Wallman. Her lifetime earnings now stand at $335,000.

Windsong Stable Soars Again in Sweden

July 29 - This was another great week for Windsong Stable horses in Sweden! Tonight at Solvalla, Q Forty Five (Muscles Yankee - Bax Machine) won his 150,000kr conditioned race in a very gutty performance, racing outside uncovered the entire way from Post 6, and finally getting up in the final strides to win by a neck. The time was 1:15.1 (mile rate). Sweden's biggest newspaper gave him a great write-up, posting photos of Q Forty Five with his trainer Daniel Reden and his driver. At 2 and 2, Q Forty Five was a multiple NJ Sire Stakes winner for Jimmy Takter before his export to Sweden. Plagued by sore knees and some breathing problems, Q Forty Five nevertheless has shown his courage by continuing his productive racing career.

On July 27, Swept To Victory toyed with a large field of top mare trotters, winning a $40,000 Open Mare Trot at Jagersro in 1:55f. Starting from Post 1, Swept To Victory took immediate command and was never headed or even approached during the entire race. She appears to be regaining the form that made her one of the most exciting racemares in Sweden last year.

Windsong 2YOs Shine at PA County Fairs

July 23 - Today at the Lycoming (PA) County Fair, two Windsong Stable-bred 2 year olds won their Stakes races. Candy is Dandy (Revenue S - Dandy Hanover) won her $2,539 Quaker Stakes event in 2:16.3h for owner/trainer/driver Syl King. Syl also owns the successful Windsong Stable-bred 3 year old filly, Susquehanna Belle. In the immediately following $4,274 PA Sire Stakes event, Cummingsandgoings (S Js Caviar - Poetry) won in 2:14.3h for owner/driver Randal Neal, and trainer/owner Clifford Neal. Cummingsandgoings has now won all three of her lifetime starts at the PA County Fairs (Gratz, Dayton, and Hughesville), with a record of 2, 2:09.2h and earnings of $7,467. While our County Fair horses do not receive the publicity of their pari-mutual siblings, we're just as proud of their achievements and wish their owners much success.

Ruffles Flourishes In PA Stallion Series at Chester

July 16 - Ruffles (Andover Hall - Polyester Hanover) made her Swedish big sister Bring Me Luck US proud by winning her first pari-mutuel start wire-to-wire in the $26,200 (div.) PA Stallion Series at Harrahs Chester Downs today. Starting from Post 5, Ruffles immediately went to the lead and was never headed, widening her lead in the stretch to a winning margin of 3 lengths with a 29.3 last quarter and the mile in 2:02.1f for trainer/driver Jimmy Takter and owner Brixton Medical AB, Sweden.

On the same card, Swan Image (Balanced Image - Swan Lake) resumed his winning ways in a $20,000 conditioned race in 1:54.1.

Valeris Wins Fastest Division of the Reynolds Stakes

July 11 - Valeris (S J's Caviar - Tasha Yar) once again amply rewarded her backers ($27.60 to win) in winning the $25,609 (div.) W. N. Reynolds Memorial Stakes at Pocono Downs today. Leaving from Post 3, Valeris sat second in a 27.1 first quarter while following Classy Broad. After Timelesswinner Two took the lead by the 57 second half, Valeris challenged at the head of the stretch before sweeping by a tiring Timelesswinner Two to win in 1:55.3f, a new lifetime record and the fastest division of the Reynolds. Owned and driven by Jackie Ingrassia in partnership with Arden Homestead Stable, Valeris now has 3 lifetime wins and $66,657 in earnings.

A Windsong Stakes Placed Weekend

June 7 - While not quite making the Winners Circle, several Windsong bred three year olds brought home good money for their owners this weekend in Stakes racing. In the $42,987 Bud Light Series for 3YO colt trotters at Flamboro Downs, two Windsong horses found themselves racing in the same division. Play Right (Kadabra - Poetry) had a solid trip throughout to take second money while timed in 1:58.2 in his usual game effort for trainer "Friday" Dean. Although he has not found the Winners Circle yet, Play Right has earned $64,640 in his career in numerous well placed Ontario Stakes races. Sir Winston (Revenue - Queen Victorian) immediately followed Play Right in third place. Sir Winston has a record of 3, 2:01 and now has $29,286 in lifetime earnings. At Buffalo, Up In Class (Conway Hall - Lady Wesgate) was a solid third in the $31,011 NYSS for Jan Johnson. With a record of 3, 2:02.2h, Up In Class now has lifetime earnings of $41,613. We normally reserve places on the "Windsong Scoreboard" for our winners, but clearly Windsong horses like these are "paying their way" and more for their owners.

Starting from Post 6, driver George Brennan had Morgun's Sweetheart on top in a fast 27.3 first quarter. She remained in command the entire mile before winning by 3 lengths for trainer/owner Buzzy Sholty. The time was the fastest of 2009 for 4YO trotting mares on a mile track. The win brought her seasonal earnings to over $53,000 and her lifetime earnings to $210,447.

Stood Alone Fastest In $18,000 Hiram Woodruff

May 14 - Stood Alone (Lindy Lane - Tasha Yar) continued his advancement with a convincing 1:53.2 win tonight in an $18,000 leg of the Hiram Woodruff Series at the Meadowlands. Driver Andy Miller immediately took Stood Alone to the lead from Post 7 in a 28.2 first quarter, before yielding the lead to John Paul's Legacy before the half. Taking the lead quickly after the start, Bring Me Luck US simply set the pace and won handily at a mile rate of 1:59.4f for the 1 5/16 mile race for trainer/driver Stefan Persson and owner Ake Larsson. Owner Larsson tells us that her next start will be in Gothenburg on April 30 in preparation for the big Drotting Silvias Pokal race on May 14, with 100,000 Euros to the winner. We wish all her connections the very best of luck with Bring Me Luck!

Swan Image Wins $85,000 Classic Series Leg at Dover

April 6 - Swan Image (Balanced Image - Swan Lake) proved once again that he is one of America's premier aged trotters in winning the $85,000 Classic Series leg tonight at Dover Downs, beating such stars as the Elitlopp-bound Enough Talk, Vivid Photo, and Green Day. On a cold and wet evening, Swan Image got away last from the outside Post 6 in a short field, content to see them all until after the half as Enough Talk set the pace. Driver David Miller then pulled Swan Image into the outer flow and picked up live cover to sit second over around the final turn. Swinging to the outside, Swan Image swept by the field as Enough Talk broke stride to win in 1:54.4 over Four Starz Speed and Green Day. Swan Image now has over $360,000 in lifetime earnings for owner Lawrence Roman and trainer Ross Croghan.
